This monograph presents a philosophical reconstruction of the main stages of the bioethics movement development. Bioethics before becoming an intellectual critical enterprise initiated during the Nuremberg trial of Nazi medical crimes and was continued in the attempts of the educated public in different countries to understand the ethical, legal and social implications of developments in biomedicine, biotechnology, and scientific and technical progress in general.
