Abstract. The article examines the complexity of defining the concept of trust, discusses ethical issues related to trust in medical practice. Based on the materials of 20 in-depth interviews, the role of trust in shaping parents’ attitudes towards vaccination of children and the meanings they put into the concept of “trust” are analyzed, including willingness to follow socially accepted behavioral models, delegation of responsibility to a healthcare professional, a way to confirm the correctness of their own opinion, as well as the use of tactics of selective trust in individual groups of recommendations.
